Samina Abidi
Research Interests: healthcare knowledge management, healthcare knowledge modelling and health systems evaluation. Her research focuses on translating clinical knowledge into clinical guidelines and then computerizing clinical guidelines to serve as clinical decision support and care planning aids for health practitioners. She is particularly focused on dealing with co-morbidities while computerizing guidelines.
Projects:
- co-PI on a research project funded by Greenshield Canada and co-I on a CIHR grant
- worked on nine research projects as a research assistant and developed clinical decision support systems

Dr. Samina Abidi has a unique skill-set where she is a clinician with expertise in health informatics. She is currently doing a post-doctoral fellowship in the area of clinical decision support systems at Dalhousie University. She is the recipient of the prestigious Steven Huesing Award (2007), awarded to the best Canadian health informatics student by COACH (Canada’s Health Informatics Association). She is also the recipient of the CIHR Canada Graduate Scholarship – Doctoral Award (Sept. 2006 – Sept. 2007) to support her PhD program.
